The Wise Men and the Star

Bible passage: Matthew 2 · Ages 3 to 5 · New Testament

Paraphrase Far away, some wise men watched the sky. One night they saw a new star, brighter than any other.

Paraphrase This star means a special king has been born! they said. Let’s go and find him.

Paraphrase They packed their gifts and rode their camels. They followed the star, night after night, for a long way.

Paraphrase At last they came to the land where Jesus lived. They asked, Where is the child?

Paraphrase The star stopped right over a little house. The wise men were so happy!

Paraphrase They knelt down, and gave Jesus their gifts, gold and sweet perfumes. And they went home a different way.

From the Bible (King James Version)

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

Matthew 2:10 (KJV)

Let us wonder

Why do you think the wise men followed the star?

One small thing to do

Look for a star or the moon tonight, and say thank you to God.
