The Shepherds and the Angels

Bible passage: Luke 2 · Ages 3 to 5 · New Testament

Paraphrase On the night that Jesus was born, some shepherds were out on a hill, watching their sheep.

Paraphrase It was dark and quiet. The sheep slept, and the shepherds sat by the fire.

Paraphrase Suddenly, a bright light filled the sky, and an angel appeared. The shepherds were very frightened.

Paraphrase Do not be afraid, said the angel. I have good news for everyone! A baby has been born in Bethlehem.

Paraphrase Then the sky filled with angels, singing and praising God. It was the most beautiful song.

Paraphrase The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem, and they found the baby, just as the angel said. They went home telling everybody, and they were full of joy.

From the Bible (King James Version)

Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Luke 2:10 (KJV, excerpt)

Let us wonder

What good news would you like to share?

One small thing to do

Tell someone good news today, even a small bit.
