Noah and the Big Boat

Bible passage: Genesis 6 to 9 · Ages 3 to 5 · Old Testament

Paraphrase Long ago there lived a good man called Noah. He listened to God.

Paraphrase God told Noah to build a big boat, called an ark, to keep his family and the animals safe.

Paraphrase Noah built it, one plank at a time. His family helped. Tap, tap, tap went the hammers.

Paraphrase Then the animals came, two by two: tall ones and round ones and all the rest. Noah and his family went inside.

Paraphrase The rain fell and fell, and the water rose. But the ark floated, and everyone inside was safe.

Paraphrase At last the rain stopped. A dove flew back with a little green branch. The water was going down.

Paraphrase God put a rainbow in the sky. It was a promise: never again would a flood cover the whole earth.

From the Bible (King James Version)

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

Genesis 9:13 (KJV)

Let us wonder

How do you think Noah felt when he saw the rainbow?

One small thing to do

Draw a rainbow and give it to someone.
