The Lost Sheep

Bible passage: Luke 15 · Ages 3 to 5 · New Testament

Paraphrase A shepherd had one hundred sheep. He knew every one of them.

Paraphrase One evening he counted them. Ninety-nine. One was missing!

Paraphrase The shepherd left the ninety-nine safe, and he went to look for the one that was lost.

Paraphrase He walked over hills and through the dark. He called, and he listened.

Paraphrase And there, caught in a bush, was the little lost sheep. It was cold and scared.

Paraphrase He lifted the sheep onto his shoulders, and he carried it all the way home.

Paraphrase Then he called his friends. Come and celebrate with me! I found my lost sheep!

From the Bible (King James Version)

Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Luke 15:6 (KJV, excerpt)

Let us wonder

How do you think the little sheep felt when it was found?

One small thing to do

Tell someone today that they matter to you.
