Joseph and the Colourful Coat

Bible passage: Genesis 37 to 50 · Ages 3 to 5 · Old Testament

Paraphrase Joseph’s father loved him, and gave him a beautiful coat with many colours.

Paraphrase His big brothers felt jealous. They were not kind to Joseph, and they sent him far away.

Paraphrase Joseph walked a long, long way to a new land called Egypt. He felt sad and alone, but God was with him.

Paraphrase Joseph worked hard and was kind, and people trusted him. He became a leader who looked after the food.

Paraphrase Years later, a hungry family came for food. It was Joseph’s brothers! Joseph knew them, but they did not know him.

Paraphrase Joseph hugged his brothers. I forgive you, he said. And the whole family was together again.

From the Bible (King James Version)

God meant it unto good

Genesis 50:20 (KJV, excerpt)

Let us wonder

Why do you think Joseph forgave his brothers?

One small thing to do

Say sorry or say I forgive you to someone today.
