The Good Neighbour

Bible passage: Luke 10 · Ages 3 to 5 · New Testament

Paraphrase Jesus told a story about a man who was walking along a lonely road.

Paraphrase Some robbers hurt him and left him by the side of the road. He could not get up.

Paraphrase A man walked by, and saw him, but he hurried on. Then another man passed and did the same.

Paraphrase Then a traveller from another land came by. He saw the hurt man, and he felt sorry for him.

Paraphrase He bandaged the man’s hurts, and lifted him onto his donkey. He took him to an inn.

Paraphrase He looked after him all night and gave the innkeeper money to keep helping. He was a good neighbour.

From the Bible (King James Version)

Go, and do thou likewise.

Luke 10:37 (KJV, excerpt)

Let us wonder

Who could you help today?

One small thing to do

Do something kind for a neighbour or family member without being asked.

Retold in simple words (a paraphrase), so it is not the Bible’s own text. The read-aloud voice is computer-made. Jesus is never shown with a face. Nothing you do here is saved or sent anywhere.
