Three Friends and the Fire

Bible passage: Daniel 3 · Ages 6 to 8 · Old Testament

Paraphrase Long ago, a king made a huge gold statue. He said everyone must bow down to it whenever the music played.

Paraphrase Three friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, would not bow. They only wanted to worship God.

Paraphrase The king was furious. He said, If you will not bow, you will go into the fiery furnace. Can your God save you?

Paraphrase The friends said, Our God is able to save us. But even if he does not, we will not bow down.

Paraphrase The furnace was made very hot. The three friends were put inside.

Paraphrase The king looked in and gasped. There were four people, walking around in the flames, and none of them was hurt!

Paraphrase The friends walked out, safe. The king said, Praise their God! And he told everyone to respect him.
