Baby Moses in the Basket

Bible passage: Exodus 2 · Ages 3 to 5 · Old Testament

Paraphrase Long ago, a mother had a baby boy. She loved him very much, and she wanted to keep him safe.

Paraphrase She made a basket and put the baby inside. She made it strong, so it could float.

Paraphrase She set the basket gently on the river, among the tall reeds. The baby’s big sister watched from far away.

Paraphrase A princess came to the river. She found the basket and heard the baby cry.

Paraphrase The big sister said, I know someone who can help! She ran and brought their own mother.

Paraphrase The baby was safe, and his mother took care of him. His name was Moses.

From the Bible (King James Version)

she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

Exodus 2:10 (KJV, excerpt)

Let us wonder

How did the mother and the big sister look after the baby?

One small thing to do

Give someone a gentle hug and say, I will keep you safe.
