Who helped you this week? Let us say thank you.

We can make a card to show it.

Do it

  1. Choose someone to thank: a grandparent, a teacher, a neighbour.
  2. Fold a sheet of paper in half to make a card.
  3. Draw a picture on the front. Inside, write “Thank you” (a grown-up can write the words and your child can copy, trace or decorate).
  4. Give it in person or send it. Say what you are thankful for.

Talk about it

For the grown-up

Writing for a real person gives writing a purpose. Thank-you cards also teach gratitude. Let your child copy a word or make marks, because early writing begins as drawing.
